The Auburn Seniors Activity Center offers the Auburn seniors community a variety of classes, activities and tours year round. Here’s a look at what they have to offer:
Classes at the activity center range from academic to art. The center offers AARP’s nationally recognized class on safe driving. Students in this class can brush up on their driving skills and learn how to become a more efficient and safer driver.
In addition to driving, the resource center also offers a Spanish study group for those interested in improving their language proficiency. The centre’s website suggests that this is aimed at people who already speak the language at an intermediate level.
Interested in expressing your creative side? The Senior Activity Center has you covered, with its two painting classes. Whether you’ve never touched a paintbrush or worked on the Sistine Chapel 2.0, acrylic and watercolor classes are open to all levels.
Looking to go out and see something new? The resource center offers a variety of trips and tours throughout the year, according to the website. Trips vary in duration from an afternoon for lunch to a 2-3 day excursion. The trip schedule is subject to change, but you can find details of upcoming trips on the Auburn Seniors Activity Center website.
The Senior Activity Center is also a Silver Sneakers site, which means that those 65 and over who have Medicare can take Silver Sneakers fitness classes at the center for free. Those aged 50 and over can take the Silver Sneakers courses for an additional charge.
