On Wednesday, May 25, celebrate National Senior Citizens Health and Fitness Day by joining the Techny Prairie Activity Center (TPAC) for a variety of specialty classes, workshops, knowledgeable instructors, and activities. a light lunch. Beginning at 10 a.m., guests will check in and be greeted at TPAC. Events taking place at 180 Anets Drive include:
10:30-11:15 a.m.: MEGA WOW class in the gym led by instructors Connie and Kruti.
11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Nutrition workshop, “Special nutritional recommendations for seniors” by Dina Genovese, RD, accompanied by a light lunch.
12:10-12:40 p.m. and 12:50-1:20 p.m.: Chair Yoga and Zumba Gold (two groups of 30 minutes each)
1:20-1:30 p.m.: Closing event with raffles!
Rachel Tandy, Northbrook Park District Fitness Supervisor, is thrilled to offer an event that specifically focuses on the older, working population. Regular movement is essential for the elderly to maintain their health, strengthen their immune system and prevent falls and injuries. Tandy explained, “TPAC instructors are qualified to provide seniors with programs and information they can use to improve their quality of life as they age. We also provide a fun community environment where participants can meet and move with friends and experience the joy of exercise. “
This event is free for Northbrook Senior Center members and Techny Prairie Activity Center members, and $25 for non-members. Registration is required at nbparks.org.
